Inside Source: Syrian Regime Sends more Troops to Seal Syrian-Turkish Border

Two hours ago 50 tanks and 70 armored personnel carriers were dispatched to the border town of Jisr Al'Shaghour, Idlib Province, to further close the Syrian-Turkish border to traffic. Activists expect that by tomorrow the border may be completely sealed and totally impassible.

Inside Source: Daily Roundup for Tuesday

Hama Province: Protest took place in the following areas: Qaalat Al'Madeeq, Afamiya, Al'Tamanayeh, Souraan, Halfiya and also in the town of Kafr Naboudeh which is the hometown of dissident Hama Attorney General Adnan Bakkour.

Aleppo Province: Protests took places in numerous squares in the city of Aleppo itself after the funeral for a the Grand Mufti of Alleppo. It is also reported that the grand mufti of Aleppo was arrested by the Mukhabarat after he spoke out against the crimes of the regime and condemned them and was subsequently hospitalized after having a heart attack.

Lattakia Province: Explosions were heard from inside the maritime college which is located in the town of Jableh.

Activists report the number of deaths from around Syria for today at 9 people.

Inside Source: Hama Reoccupied by Army with Tanks

Yesterday, the army stormed the city of Hama and have now placed tanks in the main districts of the city to prevent demonstrators from leaving their neighborhoods and converging on the main square to demonstrate. Activists say the army has also put these barriers up so that the different neighborhoods are unable to communicate or coordinate with one another.

Inside Source: Security Forces Sweep through Idlib Province

Security forces made yet another sweep through Idlib province Monday morning. Security forces stationed in Idlib city and Ariha left Tuesday morning, sweeping through the province in two directions. One security sweep went along the road leading to the border town of Jisr Al'Shaghour. A massive arrest campaign swept through the villages of Al'Besheerah, Maraj Al'Jahour, and Fareekah. From there, security forces swept through numerous border villages making arrests and shelling some of the town. Activists say residents of border towns were being punished for helping Syrians cross the border into Turkey. Explosions were apparently loud enough to be heard by Syrian refugees across the Turkish border.


The second sweep left from the town of Ariha and headed on the road leading to Ma'raat Al'Numan. Massive arrests took place in the town of Khan Al'Sabeel, in which more than 100 people were detained. The villages of Ahsim, Al'Bareh, Al'Rami and Maraean which are located in the Jabal Az-Awiya region were shot at randomly by tanks and another 35 people were also arrested. Activists also report that one person in a Syrian refugee camp across the Turkish border was shot dead by a sniper from across the border. 


Protests took place around 8pm in the following places: Sarqab, Idlib city, Tafatanz, Binnish, Kafr Takharim, Jabal Az-Awiya, Ma'arrat Al'Numan, Jarjanaz, Telminis, Khan Sheikhoun and Ma'arrat Harmat. There were also sporadic demonstrations in other smaller villages around the province. Protesters demanded the fall of the regime, the execution of the president and demanded that the UN intervene to protect civilians from being killed by security forces.

Inside Source: Syrian Forces Attempt to Kidnap Attorney General Bakkour Again

Syrian forces raided a village where former attorney general Adnan Bakkour was hiding under the protection of the Syrian opposition. Sources say that during the village raid two people were killed and a third critically wounded. Judge Bakkour was able to make his escape but was wounded in the process. He is current being moved to another undisclosed location by the opposition for his own protection. It is unclear whether Syrian forces were attempting to capture him or assassinate him.

Inside Source: Wounded Protesters Kidnapped by Shabiha

Protesters who were wounded earlier today during protests in the region of Arbeen, Damascus province have been kidnapped by the Shabiha. Apparently wounded protesters were taken to a local hospital in the region for treatment which was subsequently stormed by Shabiha militants and detained all the wounded protesters. Activists do not have any other information on their whereabouts at this time.

Update: More than 13 people have been kidnapped by the Shabiha.

Protests occurred Friday in the following Provinces:

Damascus Province: Protests took place in the following areas: Al'Qaboun, Al'Kouseh, Barza, Al'Hajar Al'Aswaad, Harista, Hamouriah, Arbeen, Saqaba, Beit Soua, Al'Midaan, Kafr Souseh, Qitna, Al'Qadim, Hajira, Douma, and in some neighbhorhoods in the old city of Damascus. Demonstrators called for the fall of the regime, the execution of the president and for the United Nations and the international community to protect innocent civilians from being killed.

The Mukhabarat stormed the following areas: Al'Qaboun, Al'Kouseh, Barza, Al'Hajar Al'Aswaad, Harista, Hamouriah, Arbeen, Al'Midaan, Al'Qadim, Al'Til, and Nahar Ayesha. 3 people were shot and killed and dozens injured in Arbeen and one person was shot and killed and dozens wounded in Al'Qaboun. Security presence was heavy all over the province and the city itself.

Idlib Province: Demonstrations took place in the following areas: Sarqab, Ma'arrat Al'Numan, Jabal Az-Awiya, Kafr Nabil, Binish, the city of Idlib, Taftanaz, Al'hibeit, and Ma'arrat Harmeh. Protesters demanded the downfall of the regime and the execution of the president and also demanded that the United Nations protect civilians.

Security forces opened fire on demonstrators in Sarqab, injuring 7, two of whom are in critical condition and have sustained life-threatening head injuries. Security forces also opened fire on protesters in Idlib city to disperse them but there are no reports of injuries or deaths. The army fired on protesters in Ma'arrat Al'Numan after residents held a demonstration in front of the grand mosque after Friday prayer. 5 people were wounded including a 10 year old child. In the village of Ahsim in the Jabal Az-Awiya region, the army opened fire on protesters, wounding a 60 year old man and dispersing the protesters. Activists say Ahsim was targeted by the army because of the frequency of protests that occur there.
