Breaking News: Local Coordinating Committees of Syria, Youth of April 17 Movement for Democratic Change in Syria and Nabed Coalition for Syrian Civil Youth form the "Ghad" Democratic Coalition

Three Syrian opposition groups who represent parts of the internal Syrian opposition and much of the Syrian youth who are driving this uprising have joined forces under a new umbrella organization called the "Ghad Democratic Coalition." "Ghad" is the Arabic word for 'tomorrow' and refers to the hope of a future democratic and free Syria.  The Local Coordinating Committees of Syria has many chapters across Syria and the "Youth of April 17 Movement for Democratic Change in Syria"  in which many founding members were from Deraa, the the "cradle" of the revolution, and  "Nabed Coalition for Syrian Civil Youth". Announcing the formation of "Ghad" Democratic Coalition

Sacrifices of the Syrian people in their battle against the criminal regime are
increasing. This revolting people have offered many martyrs, detainees
and wounded, making this period worth of the term "Historical battle".

Unifying the lines of traditional and new opposition has become a required step to achieve the goals that all those martyrs have died for, and that are
mainly about the downfall of the current regime to build a democratic
state.

From our commitment to these goals, we declare the birth of the "Ghad"
democratic coalition, which is the result of the agreement of the forces
and groups that signed the foundation statement.

Ghad democratic coalition aims mainly to working with other political and
active forces on the ground to support the work done on the ground, as
well as media and political activism. This is to ensure a peaceful
transition of power that starts by toppling the current regime, and
initiating the construction of the desired state.

This coalition also aims at encouraging the silent social groups to be
involved in the activities of the revolution, for we believe in their
effective and important role in the struggle for freedom and dignity.

The coalition bases itself on the principles that were called for by the
revolution from day one; and for which thousands lost their lives, were
detained or wounded.

These principles can be summarized in the peacefulness of the revolution,
refusing sectarianism, as well as refusing foreign intervention and
control.

The coalition works within a collaborative framework where all parties,
while maintaining their individuality, and regardless whether they are
involved now or in the future, are allowed a direct representation in
the political administration. The coalition adopts a voting system where
the majority is two thirds of the administration, in order to make
decisions on the coalition level.

The members of the coalitions are open, and would reach out to all forces,
groups, and coordination committees to join and participate in achieving
the goals of forming this coalition, which are once and foremost,
achieving the goals and aims of the Syrian revolution.
